Bringing mutual aspirations to life. Total production of the 80th anniversary celebration and awards ceremony.

Anniversary events marking milestones in a company are important opportunities to reflect on the past and solidify bonds for the future. At Court d'Or Co., Ltd., we were in charge of the overall planning, execution management, direction, and graphic design for Company A's "80th Anniversary Celebration + Internal Awards Ceremony," a specialized trading company for chemicals and shoes. We will introduce you to the behind-the-scenes story of the moving ceremony that we created in close cooperation with the client and partner companies.


Background of the achievements

Company A is a long-established company with multiple locations both domestically and internationally. To commemorate its 80th anniversary, a major milestone, a celebration was planned to bring together group employees not only from Japan but also from overseas locations such as South Korea, Shanghai, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. A famous resort hotel in Okinawa, which combines the open atmosphere of a resort with high-quality hospitality, was chosen as the venue, and the design required embodying company-wide "unity" and "mutual support (yuimaru)."


Challenges and needs

In welcoming a global audience, we had several specific challenges and needs. First, we needed to provide multilingual support so that all employees, including those who speak Chinese and Korean, could enjoy the event without feeling any language barriers. Second, we needed meticulous event management to support the busy organizing committee members and ensure the smooth running of the tight schedule on the day of the event within a limited preparation period. And third, we needed to create a high-quality production plan that would leave a lasting impression on participants, balancing the innovative spirit of a long-established company that continues to take on challenges with the vibrant atmosphere characteristic of Okinawa.


Specific initiatives

To address these challenges and realize our clients' visions in the best possible way, we undertook the following initiatives.

  • We proposed a comprehensive production plan (the "Mashimashi Plan") , a lavish and abundant production package (commonly known as the "Mashimashi Plan") befitting a commemorative ceremony, which was highly praised by the executives and officially adopted. While taking into account the venue's safety standards and constraints, we restructured the production plan to create a powerful atmosphere by effectively combining special effects such as air shots, sparklers, and lasers.

  • We refined the essential casting and program. From the initially planned program, we proposed using "NEO Ryukyu," a full-fledged Ryukyu performing arts team that more deeply embodies Okinawan tradition and entertainment. The stage, which incorporated "Takiotoshi," an improvised "Shishimai" (lion dance), and the dynamic "Dynamic Ryukyu," greatly excited the audience. Furthermore, for the awards ceremony, we created a unique MC script that utilized the personalities of our young employees, resulting in a formal yet warm and engaging presentation.

  • Through close coordination and meticulous remote meetings with the event planning committee, travel agency, and hotel staff, we refined the script to its absolute limit, going through more than seven revisions. Furthermore, for the surprise event celebrating the president's 10th anniversary, we camouflaged the script beforehand and proceeded in complete secrecy. During the actual event, we seamlessly presented video messages from executive members, a special video, and the presentation of bouquets and commemorative gifts, creating a moving finale.

  • We created and proposed multiple design patterns for the graphic design and multilingual support venue, including backdrops and photo props for photo spots. Furthermore, to address language barriers while considering cost, we flexibly explored and presented alternative solutions tailored to the client's budget and needs, such as projecting simultaneous translation subtitles onto stage monitors, utilizing AI interpreters, and providing staff support.

Results/reactions

Thanks to meticulous preparation and strong teamwork with all parties involved, the celebration and awards ceremony on the day were a resounding success without a hitch. Afterwards, we received very gratifying feedback from the executives of Company A, who said they were "deeply moved" and that their expectations for the next 10 years were at their highest. It was a milestone day in which employees from both Japan and abroad shared a moving experience in the same space, further deepening the bonds within the company.
